This is the fifth study Booklet to be published under the National Bible Study Programme. The Programme is a joint study venture, sponsored by the Youth Committee of the National Christian Council of India, the Student Christian Movement, the Young Women’s Christian Association, the Young Men’s Christian Association, and the India Sunday School Union. The four study outlines which have been published so far have all been used extensively by study groups throughout the country. They are
The study outlines included in The Gospel of the Kingdom have been prepared by the Rev. Paul Verghese of the Orthodox Church. He was till recently on the staff of the World Council of Churches; at present he is Principal of a Theological Seminary in Kottayam, Kerala. How do we discern the presence of Christ in our time and in our country? How do we become a Christian presence amidst all the problems that beset us as a nation, and in the context of our total national life? These are important questions, but we can never hope to answer them on our own. The answers to our questions and the solutions to our problems can be found only in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
